St. George Band Retreat

This last weekend, we all went on a much needed retreat. We left Friday morning, in the band van, and drove down to St. George. Despite the strong winds, we had a fabulous time; sleeping, eating, swimming, hiking, talking, playing games, and watching movies. A lazy weekend. It was just what we needed.

I will probably never wear this outfit again, the yellow shirt with red pants. It was mentioned that I looked like hot dog condiments; mustard and ketchup.

The whole group

We had so much fun, and plan on making this a tradition.

ps. I realize now that these pictures are not very representative of our trip. They give the impression that we were hiking or outside the whole time. When in fact, there was quite a bit of time spent sitting on the couch, playing catch phrase (the girls team rocks, btw, winning 6 of 7 rounds), and stuffing our faces with delicious food.

Baby

We had a doctor's appointment yesterday. Baby is just how he should be, head down and facing my spine; we are hoping he doesn't move around too much. He is measuring perfectly, and has a lovely little heartbeat.

Sleepless

Last night, a wave of uncomfortable-ness hit me like a ton of bricks. It may have been the drastic increase of water that I was trying to drink during the day (I got to 5 glasses), the growing boy inside of me crowding my insides, and the achy back body of a ninety-four year old grandma that I have acquired. The thought of feeling so uncomfortable like this for the next 2 months was overwhelming, and tears may have been shed. Sleep has been evading me for the last week, but thankfully, I have a wonderful husband who will rub my back or scratch my head until I fall asleep. Little did I know that he has been getting little sleep these nights too, not falling asleep until 4:30 am this last night. Only to be woken up at 6 again by a wife with an active bladder, running to the bathroom (must have been the 5 glasses of water), or nudging him to stop his snoring.

I'm lucky he doesn't get cranky when sleep deprived, like I do.

31 Weeks

Not a lot is different, he still kicks and knees me. Lately it has felt like he rolls around more, and stretches more than kicks. It must mean that he is getting more and more squished in there, putting on some fat! We like babies with fat around here. At our appointment last week, our Dr. said that he was measuring just the right size.

"This week, your baby measures over 16 inches long. He weighs about 3.3 pounds (try carrying four navel oranges) and is heading into a growth spurt. He can turn his head from side to side, and his arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath his skin. He's probably moving a lot, too, so you may have trouble sleeping because your baby's kicks and somersaults keep you up. Take comfort: All this moving is a sign that your baby is active and healthy."- Babycenter.com

He does seem to wake up right when I am about to go to sleep. He has perfect timing... I've noticed though, if I walk around for a little bit he calms down, stops kicking, and goes to sleep (or so I like to think).

I don't feel like I look much bigger, but starting this week I could tell that my belly was starting to get heavier. I have to have a pillow to prop it up when I am lying on my side.

I think I felt my first Braxton-Hicks contractions this week. I'm still not sure though.

I am constantly hungry and constantly eating, ask Aaron. He will tell you that all I think about is food. I even dream about it. It's pretty bad. I'm developing a very nice double chin...

So, here's the story behind the alpacas. Brittney, our neighbor upstairs, works for a place called Vital Smarts. They were shooting a commercial and needed an apartment; one that would let animals inside. Alpacas, specifically.

The story isn't all that interesting, but the phone call we got from her, asking if they could use our apartment was pretty amusing.

It was so much fun to see the alpacas, the boys even got to pet them.

So happy.

They are so cute!

Unfortunately, the alpacas weren't used to, or comfortable with going into houses (who would have thought?), so as to not freak them out even more, we weren't able to be inside when they were filming.
They did a couple of scenes outside though, and we got to see those.

30 Weeks

Believe it or not, this is the first picture we've taken of my belly. Aaron's mom made me promise I'd send one to her, and since we took one, why not post it on the blog?

Alpaca

Tomorrow there will be an alpaca walking around in our home. For real.
